Working through a Crisis

As we are all aware, we are currently working through a major medical worldwide pandemic. Many people have lost their jobs during these times and others have been affected in other ways. Working in a hospital this is something that I see and hear about every day. Our local stores have seen declines in hours or some are just shutdown completely, medical offices considered non-essential like Dental offices are closed, and the hospital is closing down some departments. Nobody seems to have ever had to go through something like this before. We are all still pushing and being strong during these times. Seeing our medical teams push through this and continue to give support each day makes we work harder here in our IT department to make sure they have all the tools they need to help our ill. We must all keep pushing and we will see this through very soon.

  1. I definitely feel for our essential workers and think they should they should be compensated as well, but a darker part of me feels this soft reset needed to happen, I would like to read more about how the IT department is handing this so if I ever go through his what is proper mindset to endure it. Also on a more “rouge” side such as talented freelancers do they have a place in assisting at this time.

  3. Jonathan, I agree with you with what you see and hear. The effects of the COVID-19 pandemic have rippled across the First Coast businesses in a short yet incredibly long period.
In mid-March, golf fans were readying for the Players and hospitals were focused on expansion, while the rest of us went about our daily business. Just a month later, everything is changed. Restaurants are shuttered, employees are home and businesses are pivoting, either to grow or to survive. I am also working at the hospital as Contracting Officer in the Acquisition Division; but because of the COVID-19 restrictions, all personnel are working at home except our IT personnel who work so hard to provide support with all the tools we need for the acquisition process. A really appreciate with what you do as an IT, because we can’t function to work at home without the IT support.

  4. I have to disagree with you on the comment “Nobody seems to have ever had to go through something like this before”. A global pandemic that has the capability destroy economic societies, South Korea is doing pretty good. Being a country that was once occupied by its southern neighbor and then has war with its northern family, yet was predicted to fail ergonomically has and remains to being doing better then the U.S., China and the U.K. That country is just an example. But it is hard to continue working in these times worrying about getting sick and not being able to provide for self or family. However there are many in country that have lived with similar things like what is happening and continue to push forward. So seeing and knowing gives hope. And with hope then leads to resilience. Something I believe to be the greatest trait of humanity is resilience.
