Enjoy the moment

We can get caught up in life many times. We all have jobs, school, some have spouses and other have their families. This along with bills can sometimes get us so wrapped up that we forget to enjoy life. Learning to just take one step back to relax or enjoy what is around you can really feel like a breath of fresh air. Sometimes, taking this break can help you see more clearly when dealing with all the other things going around. Put in the work that is necessary but always remember to just take a break and enjoy the moment.

Slow at work can be a blessing

Since we are working during a pandemic our IT workflow has slowed down with furlough being in effect. This can make for some pretty slow days at work if you aren’t motivated. Lucky for me, and our field, times like this make a great time to catch up on low priority projects or in some cases bigger projects also. Doing things like Windows 7 to Windows 10 upgrades with less users to schedule with is a lot easier. Pushing application upgrades has been also much easier. This not only gives us things to do but helps us catch up because it is NEVER ending in IT. More things will come and since we are gearing up for a Microsoft 365 migration, having less small projects to deal with is going to be very helpful.

Needs vs Wants

To keep the topic of the pandemic going, we find ourselves in a state of survival mode. We are all currently very focused on having the essentials at home. There are many businesses that have closed down to this, many have been due to layoffs but included in those are businesses that are more of a luxury that a necessity. We can also see in stores that remain open, things that are also not needed remain on the shelves but the high needed items do not make it to lunchtime. These tough times really make you realize the things that we actually need compared to the things that we want to have around.

Working through a Crisis

As we are all aware, we are currently working through a major medical worldwide pandemic. Many people have lost their jobs during these times and others have been affected in other ways. Working in a hospital this is something that I see and hear about every day. Our local stores have seen declines in hours or some are just shutdown completely, medical offices considered non-essential like Dental offices are closed, and the hospital is closing down some departments. Nobody seems to have ever had to go through something like this before. We are all still pushing and being strong during these times. Seeing our medical teams push through this and continue to give support each day makes we work harder here in our IT department to make sure they have all the tools they need to help our ill. We must all keep pushing and we will see this through very soon.

Work, school, and family

Many of us in school are working to become a better version on ourselves and just become better in life. We may be doing this for ourselves or for our families. Going to school while being married with a child is not easy at all and on top of it all we struggle with working also. I just recently started a new job and every day can be exhausting to go and learn new procedures. It can get very exhausting to do it all and find time to spend with the family also. Seeing the bigger picture and knowing that it will all be worth it is what gives me strength and drive to not give up and work harder each day.
